75th Aniversary Dinner Dance
On Friday 12th March Northallerton Young farmers celebrated
their 75th Anniversary with a dinner dance at The Golden Lion
Hotel, Northallerton. Past and present members, which included
two founder members, Arthur Foster and Mary Phillips, were
among the 205 guests who attended the celebration.
The MC for the evening was Jimmy
Hill who has been involved with the club for many years
with Sir Ben Gill, the former NFU president as our guest
speaker. Speeches were also made by Kevin Baker, the club’s president on the history
of Northallerton Young Farmers Club and Paul Laverick, the
club’s chairman gave a more up to date account of the
club’s activities. The toast to the guests was proposed
by Brian Phillips and accepted by Don Farndale.
Many happy memories were relived browsing through old memorabilia
through to modern digital photographs. The whole evening
was enjoyed by everyone, with great food and music and the
opportunity to catch up with old friends.
