Northallerton YFC - News 2003
Monday 22nd December
For our last meeting before Christmas the Club went carol singing. We raised approximately £175 for Leukaemia Research and Treatment. Many thanks to Doug & Vicki Rudd for providing us with a lovely warm supper after a very cold evening.
Our next meeting, for those with tickets, is on Monday 12th January where we are going to see 'Mother Goose' at York Theatre Royal. Meet in the Applegarth at 6.15pm.
Monday 15th December
Christmas Meal at the Green Gragon. I think Kevin had a good time!
Monday 25th November
Our meeting this week is on Friday and is an interclub stock judging night with Great Smeaton, meet in the applegarth at 7.00pm, don't forget your wellies.
We are holding our Christmas meal on 15th December at the Green Dragon, Exelby. Those who have menus please return them along with your choices and £13.95 to Kathryn or Paul as soon as possible. Or if you would like a menu please contact Kathryn (01609 776137)
Monday 17th November
This week was our domino drive which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to Cis and Janet for organising the evening, Colin Barker for comparing, everyone who provided supper and prizes and those who helped on the night. The evening raised approximately £175 for the clubs 75th Anniversary celebration to be held in March. Well done to James Coxon who was the young farmer with the most points.
Our next meeting is an inter-club night with Great Smeaton on Friday 28th November at the Garbutt's, meet at 7.00pm in the applegarth.
Monday 10th November
Our meeting next week (Monday 17th Nov) is a domino drive in Thornton le Beans village hall at 7.30pm. £1.50 each which includes supper. Family and friends welcome.
Could all members and associates who have not yet paid their membership fees and see Peter as soon as possible and everyone who ordered a York pantomime ticket please give Peter £14.
Monday 20th October
We visited I'ansons in Masham, thank you to them for showing us round and very interesting evening.
On Monday 27th we have a club committee meeting.
On 3rd Nov, Martin Shaw is coming to talk to us about bee keeping, starting at 7.30pm in the Auction Mart. We are holding a domino drive on Monday 17th November in Thornton le Beans village hall at 7.30pm.
Monday 13th October
Next week we are having a committee meeting, meet in the auction mart canteen at 7.30pm. Membership fees are now due, please see Peter as soon as possible.
Monday 22nd September
We went bowling this week, well done to Chris for getting the top score.
Next week we are going to the cinema to see 'The Italian Job' Meet in the Applegarth at 6.45pm.
Monday 15th September
This week was our extra-ordinary general meeting followed by a quiz, thank you to Mark for organising the quiz. Next week we are going bowling, meet 7.25pm outside Star Bowl, Northallerton.
Saturday 7th September
The Club went paintballing and bumped into the Deputy Prime Ministor and Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Monday 12th August
Next week we are going sandcastle building, meet in the applegarth at 7.00pm don't forget your buckets and spades.
Anyone who wants tickets for the end of Cledale Bash on Friday 22nd August should see Kathryn, tickets are £10 and are only available before the night.
We are holding our coffee and gateau evening on 23rd August to raise money for club funds, donations of tombola prizes should be given to Kathryn and anyone who is willing to make a gateau should also contact Kathryn (01609 776137)
Monday 28th July 2003
Ingleby Cross and Catterick joined us for a rounders match and BBQ which was the last meeting of our summer programme, thank you to them for coming, thank you to the Bakers for hosting and the evening and thank you everyone who helped with the BBQ.
Next week we are having a social at the Golden Lion at 7.30pm.
Anyone who wants tickets for the end of Cledale Bash on Friday 22nd August should see Kathryn, tickets are £10 and are only available before the night.
Tuesday 23rd July
The annual Cledale Raft Race took place was held on the Swale on Sunday evening. Congratulations to Great Smeaton who won the event. Northallerton finished a creditable third out of none teams. This week's Club meeting was 'country spotters' at the Baker's which was won by Claire and Alison Peacock, thank you to Jimmy Hill for organising it and to the Baker's for hosting the evening and providing a lovely supper.
There is a camp out at Laverick's on Saturday night at 7.00 - 7.30, bring your own meat for the BBQ.
Next week's meeting is an interclub BBQ with Ingleby Cross and Catterick at the Bakers. Meet in the applegarth 7.15pm.
Monday 14th July
Our meeting this week was entitled 'The Wetter the Better' where we managed to drench each other in 300 gallons of water, thank you to Mark for organising the evening and for joining in the water fight. Thank you also to Karl and Kathleen Peacock for hosting the evening and providing us with a delicious BBQ.
Next week's meeting is 'Country Spotters' at the Bakers and is held on Tuesday night. Please meet in the applegarth at 7.15
On Sunday it is the Cledale raft race at Morton Flats at 6.00pm.
Monday 7th July - Duck Race
This week members held a duck race at Sheepwash, Osmotherly to raise money for club funds, approximately £240 was made. Congratulations to Janet Robson (our past president) who won 1st prize and to Grace Allan who won 2nd prize. Thank you to Rita & Michael Laverick for providing us with a lovely supper afterwards.
Next week's meeting is at the Peacock's entitled 'The wetter the better' so come prepared to get wet! Meet in the Applegarth at 7.00pm.
Monday 30th June 2003
Our sandcastle building competition had to be cancelled this week because of the rain, so we had a social evening. The Club's duck race is next week's meeting, the race starts at 7.30pm at Sheepwash in Osmotherly, don't forget to bring your sold tickets, if anyone would like a ticket please contact Kathryn (01609 776137) 1st prize £25 and 2nd prize £10.
Friday night (4th July) we are having a camp out at Coxon's, please meet there at 7.30pm, if anyone needs a lift contact Paul.
Cledale are holding a rounders afternoon on Sunday 6th July at 2.00pm on Scorton village green with a BBQ (take your own food)
Also on Sunday we are sorting the ducks ready for Monday, please meet at the Laverick's at 7.00pm

Monday 23rd June 2003
This week the club held a committee meeting on Monday night and Tuesday night we attended an enjoyable game of cricket with Ingleby Cross, many thanks to them for inviting us and for providing a BBQ. For next week's meeting please meet in the applegarth at 6.30pm for a sandcastle building competition, don't forget buckets and spades.
On the 4th July we are having a camp out at the Coxon's.
The Club is holding a duck race on 7th July. Anyone wanting tickets should contact Kathryn (01609 776137).
Top of the rock is 19th July, anyone wanting tickets (£8 each) should see Kathryn as soon as possible.
In 1971 Northallerton Town Council presented the club with a desk for reaching the National entertainments final, this is missing, there is also a base missing from the Northallerton Calf Club Trophy 1932-33 and also the club's gavel is missing, if anyone can help us track down these missing items please contact Kathryn.
Monday 2nd June 2003
This week members had an archery evening at Scorton, well done to Chris Hugill and Alison Peacock for winning the competition and thank you to Scorton Archers for an enjoyable evening.
Next week's meeting is the car treasure hunt, please meet in the applegarth at 7.00.
Could members please remember to return their Yorkshire raffle tickets (both sold and unsold) to Kathryn as soon as possible.
Monday 19th May 2003
This week members visited the Blue Cross Animal Welfare Centre near Topcliffe, thank you to Wendy for showing us around.
Next week as it's a bank holiday meeting we're having a social, meet in the Tickle Toby at 7.30pm.
Also on Tuesday we have been invited to an interclub night with Catterick to play football on the astro-turf at Richmond school, you will need trainers not football boots, please meet in the Applegarth at 7.00.

A walk in Osmotherly was this weeks meeting, thank you to Alan for organising it. Next week's meeting is a visit to the blue cross centre, please meet in the applegarth at 7.00pm.
Well done to everyone who competed in the rally, everyone had a great day and thank you to Thirsk for hosting it.
There are collars missing from the Phillips Cup and the Hodgson Trophy, if anyone knows where they are please contact Kathryn Laverick (01609 776137).
Can members please remember to return their consent and health forms to Kathryn as soon as possible and those who have not yet paid their membership fees please let Peter have them at Monday's meeting.

Monday 14th April 2003
We had a rally preparation night at the Bakers this week. Thank you to them for once again hosting the evening and to Kevin, Alan and Michael who helped with giving reasons for judging, Janet and Anne for advice on cookery and craft items and Vicki Rudd who came to help with the flower arranging.
There is no meeting next week, the following week on the 28th April we are visiting Great North Air Ambulance at Teeside Airport, time to be confirmed.

Pippa from the Great North Air Ambulance visited to give a very informative talk on the service. Afterwards we presented a cheque for £165 to the charity which we raised carol singing.
Monday 17th February 2003
Last week we went to see the Brompton Players perform Dick Whittington. This very entertaining show featered a number of members of Northallerton YFC, but the star of the show, Tucker (Idle Jack) now has his own fan club.
Our meeting this week is a visit to the Black Sheep Brewery, Masham. The tour starts at 7.30pm anyone needing a lift should contact Paul, otherwise meet at the brewery.
Membership fees are now due, please see Kathryn Laverick as soon as possible.
