Carol Singing

20th December 2004

This week we went carol singing to raise money for the Joshua Peacock fund in Northallerton, we raised approximately £140. Thank you to Doug and Vicki for hosting us for supper.

There is no meeting next week but a Cledales dance at Danby Wiske Village hall.

Our next meeting is on Monday 3rd January, a trip to York Theatre Royal Panto to see Sleeping Beauty, meet in the applegarth at 6.00pm.

Food Glorious Food

13th December 2004

We had our annual Christmas meal this week at the Green Dragon, Exelby.

Congratulations to Paul, Joanne and Robbie who were part of the winning Cledales Senior After Dinner Speaking Team.

Next week we are going carol singing, meet at 6.15pm at Brompton.

Stock Judging

29th November 2004

For this week's meeting we had a dairy stockjudging evening at the Lavericks, thank you to them for hosting the evening and providing a lovely warm supper.  Well done to Paul Phillips for coming first in the senior competition and well done to Richard Chapman for coming first in the junior competition. Thank you to Kevin Baker for being our judge and to Alan Turner and Michael Laverick for stewarding.
 
Next week is a Christmas interclub night with Thirsk, meet in the auction mart canteen at 7.30pm.  

Bonfire Night

2nd November 2004

This week's meeting was our bonfire night with fireworks display, thank you very much to the Bakers for hosting the event. Geoff Rountree proposed the vote of thanks and Mike Cooper was proposed as a new member. Next week is a committee meeting, in the auction mart canteen at 7.30pm. Please bring ideas along for the summer programme. Good luck to all those competing in the Cledales Public Speaking competions at Scorton Village Hall on Sunday.

Our annual Christmas meal is to be held on Monday 13th December, at the Green Dragon, Exelby. Menus are available from Kathryn and need to be returned to by 29th November.

New Discussion Group

Visit to the Vets

Thank you very much to Ed Bullman for allowing us to look around his veterinary surgery and for giving us a very interesting talk for our meeting this week, thank you also to truffle for taking part in the demonstration! James Baker proposed the vote of thanks and Richard Phillips was proposed as a new member.

Next weeks meeting is on Tuesday night and is our bonfire and fireworks evening hosted by the Bakers at Crosby Court Grange, meet in the applegarth at 7.00pm

Visit to Sam Turners

This week members enjoyed a trip round Sam Turners, Thank you to Sam and Charlie for giving us the history and showing us round.

Public Speaking Practice

4th October 2004

This week was a public speaking practice, many thanks to Gordon Sanderson and Brian Phillips for giving us lots of tips. Next week is a visit round Sam Turners, meet in the applegarth at 7.15pm or at Sam Turners at 7.25pm.

Membership fees are now due, Juniors £13, Intermediates £15 and Seniors £18, please get these to Paul L as soon as possible.

We are planning a trip to see York Pantomime 'Sleeping Beauty' on either Monday 3rd or Monday 10th January, if you want to go please give Joanne a £10 deposit as soon as possible, deadline is Monday 11th October.

Farm Walk

28th September 2004

This week was a very interesting tour around Peacocks farm, learning about the countryside stewardship scheme, thank you very much to Karl and Kathleen for showing us around and thank you to them for providing a lovely supper.

Next week is a mystery meeting, meet in the auction mart canteen at 7.30pm.

Robbie Raises Money for Blue Cross

Saturday 18th September 2004

Robbie went fundraising for the Blue Cross this weekend by walking from All Saints Church in Northallerton to the Blue Cross Animal Rescue Centre near Topcliffe. As well as raising around £200 for the the Blue Cross, he managed to raise a few eyebrows on the way by walking all the way in a Sylvester the cat costume.

Coffee and Gateau and rounders

Monday 17th August 2004

Members enjoyed playing rounders at Brompton school this week, thank you to the school for letting us use their field. Katrina Blenkiron and Hannah Macey were proposed as new members and welcomed to the club.

Our coffee and gateau evening on Saturday night raised approximately £200 thank you to everyone who came, those who made gateaux and those who helped on the night, thank you also to the Lavericks for hosting the event.

Next week meet in the applegarth at 7.00pm, activity to be decided on the night.

Wet, wet, wetter

Monday 9th August 2004

Our meeting this week was cancelled due to the rain so rounders is rescheduled for next monday at Brompton School, please meet at 7.00pm in the Applegarth.

On saturday night we are holding a coffee and gateau evening to raise money for club funds at the Laverick's, Winton Garth at 7.30pm, friends and family welcome.  Please bring along any raffle /  tombola prizes on the night. 

Wet, Wet, Wet!

Monday 27th July 2004

Our meeting this week was the official end to our summer programme, we had an 'it's a knockout' evening at the Peacocks which ended in a very big water fight. Thank you very much to Mark for organising some brilliant games and thank you to the peacocks for providing the venue, the supper and the water! Daniel Blenkiron was welcomed as a new member and James Coxon proposed the vote of thanks.

Next week as a social we are going to watch Spiderman 2 at the cinema. Meet in the applegarth to set off at 6.30pm, to see the 7.00pm showing.

This week our meeting was a visit to Scorton to practice our archery skills, thank you very much to everyone who showed us how it should be done. Well done to Robbie for winning the boys competition and well done to Alison for winning the girls competition for the second year running.

Also on Monday members presented a cheque for £200 to Dr. Chandler at the Friarage Hospital's Mowbray Suite. The money was raised from our carol singing efforts in December and will go to the Haematology Endowment fund for leukaemia research and treatment.   

There is no meeting next week. On Monday 26th July we are holding an interclub it's a knockout evening with Great Smeaton at the Peacocks, more details next week.

The Annual Duck Race

This week was our duck race to raise money for club funds, raising over £200.  Kathryn Laverick was our winner and Rachel White came second, thank you to everyone who sold tickets and who helped on the night.

Thank you also to the Lavericks for providing supper after the race.

Sandcastle Building at Redcar

The Club joined up with Ingleby Cross YFC for an evening of sandcastle building on the beach at Redcar. Thank you to Jimmy and Ernie for judging and well done to the winning team.

Next week we are going to visit J Bezemer and Sons' greenhouses at Stokesley. Meet in the applegarth at 6.30pm

How Much Further!

This week we had a very enjoyable 4 mile walk organised by Alan Turner. Setting of from Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe we went on a circular tour encompassing Lake Gormire.

Next week is a committe meeting at 7.30pm in the Auction Mart canteen to plan the winter program. Please bring along any ideas.

Four!

This week we had an enjoyable night at the driving range.

There is no meeting next week.  Our next meeting is a talk on car maintenance by Mark Briggs on Monday 19th April in the Auction Mart Canteen, meet there at 7.30pm. 

The club is ordering green polo shirts with printing and embroidery to celebrate their 75th Anniversary, priced £10 for members and £18 for non members, if you would like one please contact Kathryn.

Robotic Cows

This week to had a very interesting visit to the Gibson's farm in Crakehall to look at their robotic milking parlour, many thanks to them for showing us round.

Next week we are having a rally practice at the Bakers, meet there at 7.30pm or at 7.20pm in the Applegarth.

What Do We Think Of Young Farmers

This week Sandra Butterfield from Yorkshire came to carry out a survey on the on our views of the Young Farmers movement.

Next week we are visiting the farm of Mr. T Gibson, Crakehall, where we will be looking at his robotic milking parlour, meet in the applegarth at 6.50pm. Friends and family welcome.

75th Aniversary Dinner Dance

Northallerton Young farmers celebrated their 75th Anniversary with a dinner dance at The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton. Sir Ben Gill was the guest of Honour to over 200 past and present members of Northallerton Young Farmers Club.

Chocolate

This week we visited The Little Chocolate Shop in Leyburn, thank you very much to Emma for the talk and demonstration. Next week is a visit to Brompton Pantomime to see 'Mother Goose.' People have tickets for various nights, it starts at 7.30 a Brompton Village hall. If anyone would still like a ticket contact Kathryn (01609 776137)

The club is holding a dinner dance on Friday 12th March at The Golden Lion, Northallerton, to celebrate 75 years of the club, tickets priced £20. For more information or to obtain a menu choices form please contact Paul Laverick on 01609 776137 or e-mail paullaverick@hotmail.com the deadline for returning all menu choices and money is Friday 20th February, tickets are selling fast and are allocated on a first come first served basis and no tickets are guaranteed without payment.

This week was a committee meeting.

Next week were are visiting The Little Chocolate Shop in Leyburn, meet in the applegarth at 6.45pm.

We are planning a visit to the Brompton Pantomime 'Mother Goose' which is showing Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th February, if anyone would like a ticket please contact James Baker.

Mock Auction

Monday 19th January 2004

Our meeting this week was a mock auction at Russells, well done to the winners Alan, Pete and Tucker, thank you to Neville, Robin and David for organising the evening and providing prizes.  We also watched 'Babes in the Wood' at Hambleton Forum with Thirsk Young Farmers, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, thank you to them for inviting us.
