Carol Singing

12th December 2005

Monday night was carol singing we raised approximately £120 for the North of England Children's Cancer Research Fund. Thank you to Sis for providing an excellent supper. Well done to our senior brainstrust team who came second at the Yorkshire public speaking competition on Sunday.

Next Monday is the Christmas meal 7pm for 7:30pm at the Green Dragon Exelby, ring Paul P if you are stuck for a lift.

Darren's Visit to New Zealand

This weeks meeting was a fascinating talk and presentation by Darren Hill on his trip to New Zealand. Good luck to the Junior and Senior teams competing at the County Public Speaking Competition on Sunday.

Next week the Club is Carol singing. Meet in the Applegarth at 6:20pm or Sis Farndale’s at 6.30pm. Also we have an inter club night with Thrisk YFC.

WiggyStock Judging Practice

30th November 2005

This week meeting was a stock judging practice. Thank you to Brain and Ann Phillips for hosting the evening and Tony Thompson from Thirsk Auction Mart for being our judge for the evening. Well done to Simon Chapman, James Baker and Joanne Peacock who were placed 1st in the three age groups.

James the FairyThere are still members who need to pay subs, £13.50 for juniors, £15.50 for Intermediates and £18.50 for seniors, can these be paid to Paul L as soon as possible. All those going to York Panto can you pay Joanne £10 to complete the ticket price. Christmas meal final date is Monday can all money and menus be returned to Kathryn.

A special mention this week goes to James who collected lots of money from shoppers in Northallerton High Street for Children In Need by dressing us as a fairy.

Visit to Richmond Ice Cream

This week meeting was very a tour and presentation of Richmond ice cream. Thank you to Dean and Vicky for an interesting evening on how ice creams are commercially produced.

Visit to Reed Boardall

This week members enjoyed a cold interesting tour and talk round Reed Boardall Cold Store at Boroughbridge Thank you very much to Gary and Sandra for showing us round. Fern Coxon proposed the vote of thanks. Can members please start to collect raffle prizes and prizes for the hampers for the Domino Drive (14th November).

This week members enjoyed a very interesting tour and talk round Tesco's. Thank you very much to Lesley for showing us round. We would like to welcome Martin Winter to the club as he was proposed a new member.

Public Speaking Practice

3rd October 2005

This weeks meeting week members enjoyed a interesting fun introduction to public speaking. Thank you to Gordon Sanderson and Jennifer Lappin for making the night very enjoyable. Geoff Rowntree proposed the vote of thanks. We would to wish Paul, Joanne and Robbie all the best for the national public speaking finals at Stoneleigh on Saturday.

Dog LeadsVisit to the Ropemakers

Our meeting this week was a guided tour and talk at Hawes Ropemakers. We would like to thank Ruth for her very interesting talk about rope making and the history of the Company.

Annual General Meeting

The Club held it's 77th AGM at Northallerton Auction Mart. Paul Phillips was elected Chairman, Joanne Peacock - Vice Chairman and secretary - Kathryn Laverick. Full details soon.

Bowling

12th September 2005

Our first meeting back after the summer break was bowling at Star Bowl, well done to Tim Simpson for getting the top score although there may have been a bit of cheating going on! Check out the movie (AVI: 4.6Mb) (Flash: 1.7Mb), courtesy of Fern, of Robbie showing us his bowling skills.

Next week is our Annual General Meeting, 7.30pm in the Auction Mart Canteen, can members please be there at 7.15pm ready to start at 7.30pm. Anyone who hasn't already returned their trophies please bring them along with on Monday night.

Treasure Hunt

18th July 2005

Thank you to Janet and Sis for organising our annual car treasure hunt for this week's meeting and providing a lovely supper. Well done to the winning team - James, Joanne, Holly and Kathryn.

Cledales Raft Race

17th July

The annual Cledales raft race took part on the River Swale at Morton Flatts on Sunday evening. Seven teams took part with Great Smeaton's B team finishing first. Unfortunately Northallerton's raft floated down the river in last place. Never mind, there's always next year.

Archery

11th July 2005

Our meeting this week was at Scorton doing archery, thank you very much to the Scorton Archers for a very enjoyable evening. Well done to Fern for winning the competition.

Our coffee and gateau evening + mini garden party on Sunday raised over £500 for club funds, thank you to everyone who came along.

Deer, Wild Boar and Buffalo Burgers

Thank you very much to Paul Langthorne for a very interesting tour around his farm for this week's meeting and thank you for the lovely supper of buffalo burgers which everyone enjoyed very much, especially Jeff.

 

It's A Knockout

This week was a very enjoyable 'It's a knockout' evening involving lots of mud and water, everyone had a great time. We were joined by Briggita, a Young Farmers exchange student from Switzerland. Thank you very much to The Coxon's for hosting the event, organising and setting up the games and for providing a BBQ supper.

This week we went orienteering at Round Howe, Richmond, thank you very much to Alan for organising the evening. Well done to James, Kathryn and Mike's team for coming first.

Well done to all those who took part at the County Rally at Pateley Bridge Showground gaining 46 points for the Club.

The winning duckQuack, quack quack!

We had our duck race this week at sheepwash, Osmotherly which raised money for club funds, thank you to everyone who bought a duck. The winning duck was owned by Joyce Plews and the duck in 2nd place belonged to J Lowe. Thank you to the Laverick's for hosting the supper afterwards.

Visit to Tanzania

We had a talk by Katrina Blenkiron this week on her trip to Tanzania, thank you very much to her and thank you to the Blenkiron's for hosting the meeting at the last minute.

It is our duck race next week at Sheepwash, Osmotherly, 7.30pm, there are still some ducks left, they are £1 each, to purchase a duck please contact Kathryn (01609 776137). We are sorting the ducks ready for Monday at the Laverick's, Winton Garth on Saturday at 2pm, please could as many members as possible come and help. Also some ducks have not yet being returned, please if possible return to Kathryn before Monday's meeting.

We had a mock auction this week, thank you to the Blenkiron's for hosting an enjoyable evening and thank you to Richard Brown for coming to value the items. Keith was delighted with the price offered for his tractor.

Cledales Rally

7th May 2005

This year the event was held just outside Gt. Smeaton. Congratulations to Catterick who won the rally...again and to all those who took part from Northallerton, finishing in fifth place. Highlights of the day included the cheerleading and Louise's chocolate cake.

Rally Practice

Last week we had a rally practice, thank you to Sally Brass and Sis Farndale for helping with the flower arrangement ideas and to Julie Smith for helping with the cheer leading routine.

Bowled Over

This week we went bowling to Star Bowl in Northallerton. Well done to Daniel Tucker for coming first overall.

Not Another Panto!

This week members enjoyed the Brompton Pantomime 'Robinson Crusoe & the Pirates' which involved many of our own members.

8th Ferbuary 2005

This week the talk by North Yorkshire Police was cancelled and replaced with a quiz organised by Paul P and Joanne. Thank you to them for organising it.

75 Years

This week he held an enjoyable evening looking back at the 75th celebration and the 75 years of Northallerton Young Farmers. Thank you to everyone who came.

Oh Yes He Did!

This week members enjoyed a visit to see Northallerton Amateur Variety Company's production of the Mother Goose. However the after show party goers got more than they bargained for when Robbie turned up as the fairy!

This week's meeting was a visit to York to see the pantomime Sleeping Beauty which was enjoyed by all.
